Who could possibly trust a Kathleen O’Toole hiring scheme?

The Boston Globe reported the other day that Boston Police Department boss Kathleen O’Toole is working on a new recruiting process after a federal court scrapped the one based on racial quotas. O’Toole is apparently leaning towards “banding” as a way to keep the BPD about as racially balanced as the city’s population. That means, simply put, cherry picking from a pool of “qualified” candidates, rather than picking candidates with the best test scores, as per the current process.

I am certanily no friend of racial quotas, but let’s face it, it’s a small price to pay keep racial peace in the city. I’m fine with banding. However, O’Toole has a few other and quite less agreeable ideas. For example, she has suggested doing away with the preference for veterans. Since Massachusetts is heavily white, over 80%, the veterans preference is likely to help make the BPD vastly whiter than the city (which is less than 50% white).

O’Toole’s point is not without merit, but if you combine “banding” with dropping the preference for veterans, you will end up with hack-o-rama heaven. Every oversized slob-cousin of a State legislator will get a job on the BPD. That is not acceptable. I’d rather they flew in a Starlifter load of black paratroopers from Alabama to staff the BPD than give the jobs to the above mentioned lardbutts.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, O’Toole also wants to give extra points to applicants who speak more than one language. That’s just sucking up to immigrant lobbies. We don’t need cops who can speak Mandarin, we need our Chinese immigrants to learn some English. As do all other immigrants who decided to move to our city before learning el lingo. No English, no peace!

Without further ado, I shall now make my point. O’Toole is useless. She’s been useless for almost a full year now. Can her.
