Depleted Patriots get smacked around in Denver
The New England Patriots made the game closer than I thought they were going to be able. With a secondary that’s close to dead, a linebacker corp that can’t tackle, a defensive line that can’t make up for the weaknesses of the back eight, and a defense that can’t force a turnover to save its life, the Patriots had a small chance at best to beat Denver.
The final score - Denver 28, New England 20 - was a lot closer than the game. About the only thing that surprised me was that Denver took so long to go deep, once the Broncos did, the Patriots unraveled quickly.
Time to regroup. It’s a darn good thing the bye week is here.
