PAN carries the day in Mexico - sort of
Mexico’s center-right party PAN appears to have won the presidential election in Mexico by a slim margin, and it has also established itself as the biggest party in the upper and lower chambers of the Mexican legislature. However, with the support of less than 37% of voters and a solid minority in the legislature, I imagine the likely president-elect Felipe Calderón doesn’t have that much coveted and often mythical mandate, or political capital.
I guess that means deregulation to allow foreign investments in the country’s lethargic energy sector isn’t going to happen any time soon.
