Bechtel, May 16, 2005: “The Big Dig is safe and sound”

This post by Jay Fitzgerald led me to this article where reporter Brett Arends quotes Bechtel as saying that “The Big Dig is safe and sound.”

Did Bechtel actually claim that the Big Dig is safe and sound? It most certainly did. And don’t give me any garbage about context. The context is the Big Dig. You can’t say “the Big Dig is safe and sound” (full stop) if you actually mean “the Big Dig is a death trap, but not because of the water leaks.”
