Casino gambling in Massachusetts is a no brainer

I have a friend who works as a marketing director at a major gaming company in Europe. According to him, Massachusetts is widely regarded as the world leader in instant lottery games (ie. scratch tickets). On the other hand, Massachusetts doesn’t allow casino gambling. That’s unfortunate, since Massachusettsians spend money like crazy in casinos in Connecticut, Nevada and elsewhere. The Commonwealth should, in my opinion, try to capture much of that money while also luring out-of-staters to empty their wallets here.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chris Gabrieli supports establishing casino gambling in Massachuetts:

“We might as well be proactive,” the venture capitalist-turned-politician said during an interview at his campaign headquarters. “A lot of Massachusetts residents are going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun down in Connecticut. By some estimates they spend $900 million a year there. The question is, would we be better off allowing that to happen in Massachusetts?”

Of course we would.
