Old Country stunner: Swedes dump socialists

Swedish voters have ditched the governing Social Democratic Party in favor of a coalition of four center-right parties. The latter snagged 48.1% of the votes, while the Social Democrats and its two supporting parties (Greens and Communists) managed 46.2% of the vote. All other parties combined for 5.7% of the vote, but none of them got the necessary 4% to win any seats in the parliament. This means the coalition will form the first government in Sweden with a parliamentarlian majority since 1979.

Frankly, I didn’t think the Swedes had it in them. The fact that they dumped the sitting government in spite of strong economy goes to show how tired Swedes are of the Social Democrats and their increasingly corrupt, wasteful and power-hungry ways of governing the country.
