World news, with that special Swedish twist

It’s easy to confuse Republic of China with People’s Republic of China. The former is what is normally referred to as Taiwan (and formerly known as Formosa) while the latter is, well, China. Or Communist China as some might say. Associate Press writer Linda Straker reports on a recent gaffe in Grenada, where a band played Taiwan’s national anthem at an event where China’s ambassador was a prominent guest. Ms. Straker’s report is solid, straight forward reporting. Too straight forward for a journalist at Swedish news agency Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå, who decided to spice it up with a little left-wing editorializing. Factually challenged left-wing editorializing as Johan Norberg notes.
