Christmas fair with a Swedish flair
Today we took the kid to the annual Swedish Christmas fair in Boston, as always held in the Cyclorama in South End, and as usual on the same day that Army and Navy battle it out on national television. Those crazy Swedes. Anyway, we had a good time and I gorged on Princesstårta, våfflor and what not. The kid, in full Swedish character dressed in a Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter-outfit, was well behaved and held it together even at the end when he was clearly sick and tired of the whole Swedefest.
Below is a picture of the obligatory Saint Lucia parade (it’s literally known as a Lucia train in Swedish but that just doesn’t right in English). It was very good. The gals and a handful of boys did a good job singing the old classics as well as some newer fare (including something about “torch a tent this advent” or something). The Lucia crew was made up of students from the Swedish School and, of course, Swedish au pairs in Greater Boston.

The detail cop at hand heroically reunited a lost girl with her father. Who says detail cops don’t provide value? Also, my wife guided us to the parking spot closest to the building. That’s the kind of thing that only happens in movies: You drive to an event in South End on a Saturday afternoon and find parking right in front of it. Crazy.
