Massachusetts population almost 6,500,000 in 2008
Massachusetts population was 6,497,967 on July 1 according to the latest population estimate by the United States Census Bureau. The population has increased 2.34% since 2000, the ninth slowest increase (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). The new estimates also bring with them upwards estimates for the population in previous years. For example, the original estimate for Massachusetts in 2007 was 6,449,755. The current estimate for that year is now 6,467,915.
I put together a table with the 2000 and 2008 populations for all states. It also contains the change in absolute and relative terms and you can sort the table by column.
