White lines in Hotmail below images

Hotmail recently slightly altered the way it renders HTML. As a consequence the service re-introduced an old display bug: White lines that run below certain images in a design.

Specifically the issue appears for images that have a break tag appended. Here are three examples of emails affected by the white-line bug in Hotmail:

There are a couple of a different solutions. One is to send the email as an image map. If that’s not acceptable then set the inline style of images followed by a line break to display:block; and remove the break tag. That should take care of the problem.

One solution that work for a while but currently doesn’t is to wrap the image in a DIV tag. That no longer works.
