By popular demand, New England Patriots third string quarterback Matt Gutierrez

Yes, there’s demand out there for Matt Gutierrez content. Now, New England Patriots undrafted rookie free-agent third-string quarterback obviously hasn’t done much as of yet, but I did find a couple of pictures of him that I took during last Sunday’s early practice. In the photograph to the right you see him throwing the ball during a pretty basic pass-catch drill with the wide receivers. Of greater interest is the picture below, where he’s quarterback behind the starting offensive line during some run blocking drills. He also took snaps with the second unit. He bumbled but didn’t fumble - and was able to hand off - one of the snaps with the second unit.
He looked pretty good overall. In the passing drills he demonstrated a good arm with good zip and accuracy, but I can’t imagine he’s anywhere near ready to play a regular season game. Hopefully he won’t have to for, say, 5-7 years.
Erik Scalavino claims Gutierrez did some good at tonight’s practice, including a well-executed play-action fake. So let’s say Gutierrez has had a good first week of training camp.
