New York Jets put Mike Elgin on the practice squad

New York Jets have put New England Patriots training camp cast-off Mike Elgin on the practice squad. Elgin is an undersized but skilled interior offensive lineman who played second and third string guard and center during the pre-season. He was a bit in over his head physically against Carolina Panthers - on one play Carolina back-up linebacker Adam Seward ran right through him and dropped the ball carrier for a loss - and even more so, oddly, against New York Giants. It should be noted, however, that even veteran center Dan Koppen struggled against the Panthers. I don’t know if Elgin will ever pan out in NFL but as I have said before, I’m impressed by how well he plays.
You’ll find a couple of pictures of Elgin at work here.
